1. What is an Adhesive?
Our Adhesives have two advantages:
- Regardless of the material, a stabilized Adhesive will work consistently well.
- Secondly, the shelf life of the Adhesive is substantially better than an ordinary superglue. That increased shelf life will save you money.
2. Blue, Black, or Green. Which adhesive do I need?
Here is a brief description of each Adhesive type and its application(s):
- Blue Adhesive (100 centipoise) | Blue is our standard viscosity offering improved control while maintaining most of the wicking and strength characteristics of the Green Adhesive.
- Black Adhesive (1500 centipoise) | When control is important, Black is your solution. This increased preciseness is why most of our industrial clients use the Black Adhesive. Our Tech-Patch and Tech-Wrap products are usually applied with this thicker version of our Adhesive family.
- Green Adhesive (0-5 centipoise) | An ultra-thin version of our premium Blue Adhesive, our Green Adhesive has excellent wicking characteristics making Green the ideal solution for repairing small cracks.
3. What are Tech-Patches?
Tech-Patches are made from a flexible polymer that has “excellent” resistance to water, oil, regular gas, weather, dirt, grease salt and most common chemicals. Because of these characteristics, the Tech-Patch is the polymer of choice for high stress environments such as those in the aviation, automotive, aerospace and many, many other industries.
4. Are your products available for supporting Taxidermy?
The art and science of Taxidermy demands high levels of adhesive technology performance. Tech-Bond’s Taxidermy Kits provides premium Adhesives with the performance tools needed to maximize results.
5. Do your products support Funeral Homes?
Yes! We have the embalmers first choices: Complete Prep Room Kits and Cranial GEL Kits. And for those clients who do a large volume of cases per year, please call our toll-free number at +1 877 565 7225 and give us your requirements. We will customize a kit to meet your needs.
6. How do I get rid of the excess Adhesive from my materials being bonded?
Our Debonder product specifically is used to remove excess adhesive from the material being bonded. You may also use acetone as well.
7. What is the difference between each kit?
Each kit differs by the amount of surface coverage that can be bonded by the Adhesives.
8. What is Poly Prep and when/why would I need it?
Poly Prep is an adhesion promoter (an etch for polymers). You cannot bond or bring together to polymer materials without the Poly Prep.
9. What is a Filler?
The liquid Filler is a sand compound that fills cracks and holes in materials. Filled holes may be drilled and tapped. In addition, the Filler adds surface area which can increase bond strength.
10. Are Tech-Bond Solutions’ products “food safe”?
Yes! Adhering to the FDA “food safe” guidelines, our:
- Adhesive Products: The FDA considers our products “food safe” if the adhesives and sealants do not come into direct contact with food, with the principal consideration being the ingredients of the adhesives. Since Tech-Bond’s adhesives bond two surfaces together and become part of the molecular structure, there will be no degradation of the adhesive into foods being processed; and, thus, remain “food safe”.
- Other Products: As to the use of Tech-Bond’s Activator/Accelerator and Poly Prep, both “flash off” within seconds. Both liquids completely evaporate. There is no remaining residue that would render the Tech-Bond Molecular Bonding System™ unsafe around food.
If you have additional questions related to the “food safety” of our products, please contact one of our experts at +1 877 565 7225.
Tech-Patches and the Polymer Bonding Process
1. How do your adhesives bond so well?
Our patented Polymer Bonding Process (Process) bonds any polymer material to itself, to any other polymer material and to almost any other material. The Process produces an exothermic chemical reaction to bond materials together. Most other adhesive brands do not produce the same reaction. Ours are more durable than glue-joins.
2. What is “SI”?
SI stands for Surface Insensitive, meaning our adhesive system will work on all materials except for glass, vinyl, stainless or alloy steels. To determine if your 2 materials can be bonded together, visit our Materials/Substrates Listing.
2. What are Tech-Patches?
Tech-Patches are made to have “excellent” resistance to water, oil, regular gas, weather, dirt, grease salt and most common chemicals. This resistance makes our Tech-Patches the choice for high-stress environments within the aviation, automotive, aerospace and many other industries.
3. Do you have any Tech-Patch reports?
Yes. We have Tech-Patch reports. Visit our Reports page for further information.
4. What is an A Patch?
An A Patch is made from PTFE-coated glass fabric. They are resistant to oils, gas, chemicals, acids, bases, weather and UV rays.
5. What is a G Patch?
The G Patch is among the most chemically weather-resistant polymers made. It is a patch which is non-abraded (not roughed) and works with a pressure rating of 30 psi.
6. What is an XT Patch?
XT Patches are used in the repair of metal pipes and tanks. It is a patch with one side abraded (roughed) and works with a pressure rating of 120 psi.
7. Which Tech-Patch is best for my problem?
Visit our Materials (Substrates) Listing page and enter your material to find which Tech-Patch is best for your problem. You may also call our toll-free number at +1 877 565 7225 to speak to an expert.
8. How long do Tech-Patches last?
Forever! There are three main problems impacting the strength and longevity standard adhesives and patches. Tech-Patches have been tested successfully to withstand all three problems when repairing a container.
- Many, if not most containers, are outside and must withstand weathering. Standard adhesives and patches simply don’t handle weather well. Our Tech-Patches have been tested and proven to withstand even the toughest of weather conditions.
- Resistance to chemicals. Tanks hold water, gas, oil, other hydrocarbons and many other chemicals. Adhesives and common patch material do not hold up long-term to hydrocarbons and many other chemicals. Our Tech-Patches were created to solution these issues and create the resistance necessary to hold up against chemical supplies in various sizes and shapes of containers.
- Many, if not most, adhesives provide temporary solutions. If you think that your container will have to be replaced soon, use one of our Tech-Patch bonding solutions. Tech-Patches provide a permanent solution to your repair of cracks or holes in your tanks or containers.
9. How durable are your Tech-Patches?
Tech-Patches are extremely durable, surviving weather, resistance to chemicals, and other types of potential eroding factors.
10. What materials can I bond together?
Visit our Materials (Substrates) Listing. Once there, just enter your material to see which other materials may be bonded with your material.
11. Am I able to bond my 2 materials?
To determine if your 2 materials can be bonded together, visit our Materials (Substrates) Listing. You may also call our toll-free number at +1 877 565 7225 to speak to an expert.
